We have officially found heaven. Laguna De Apoyo is so beautiful is hard to put it into words… but I’ll give it a go.
It’s a lake in the top of a volcano near Granada in Nicaragua, which stays warm all year round due to some thermo something or other. We were strongly recommended to take a visit here even though it’s a little off the beaten path, so after five hours on chicken buses we finally arrived. There’s a few hostels and having initially planned to check into the hostel which doubles up as a Spanish school we decided against it after seeing the blue cardboard box room. So we trekked along the lake to see what the other couple of hostels look liked and whether our wallets would handle any of the other options. When we hit SelvaAzul we thought it might be pretty over budget but as the place was empty the awesome owner Tim sorted us the best room in the place for half price.
Lake front private room with en-suit and our own balcony with… our own private infinity pool! So for the bargain price of $40 Gaz and I are living like kings in probably one of my most favourite and unique places in the world!
